The Palatine takes the oldest way of writing numbers and turns it into a band made for every day. Two softly polished rails rise at the rims to frame a recessed channel, and within it a run of Roman numerals is carved in clean, shallow relief that travels the whole way round the ring. The surfaces are given over entirely to the metal — weight, line and a crisp edge — so it wears as easily on its own as it does stacked alongside another band.
