A circle that gives everything back. Fifty-seven facets, set radially about one centre, take light in at the table and hand it straight back as pin-point scintillation. No other cut returns as much, which is why the round brilliant is the one every other cut answers to. Four slender tapered claws hold it and cover almost none of it; the fittings stop at a jump ring and a plain tapering bail. The most familiar shape in jewellery, and the least likely to sit still.
