The Mireille is a three-row necklace, its tiers cut to seventeen, eighteen and nineteen inches so they fall as three even arcs rather than sitting one on top of another. Every diamond is set in an illusion collar — a wider polished plate worked around the stone so the light it throws reads far larger than the diamond itself — and the collars run close-set along the front of all three rows, turning each into an almost unbroken line of brilliance. Behind the neck the rows become plain fine chain and gather into a single flat clasp, the kind used on a tennis bracelet but widened to take all three at once, so the whole piece fastens as one.
