The Fontaine hangs a pear-cut diamond beneath a cushion, each held in fine claws and ringed by a double row of pavé, so the light runs unbroken from the lobe to the base of the drop. Both frames are worked in miniature — several hundred small brilliants graded in size, tightening as the pavé turns each corner, with milgrain beading picked out between them. A single polished link joins the two, so the drop swings free and catches the light as the wearer moves rather than sitting still against the neck.
