The Aventine is a cross built from three nails. The upright hangs head up and point down, its shank set the whole way round with fine pavé and drawn to a slender spear point. Across it lie two more nails laid in opposite directions, so a rounded, stone-set head finishes both arms. Each keeps the short band of fine knurling a real nail wears below its head — the detail that holds the piece honest to the object it is drawn from. At two inches it is made to be seen, and the pavé runs unbroken over every surface of it. Made to order, with the metal specified to your preference.
